About Spring in the Solar Terms

Spring in the 24 solar terms spans from Start of Spring (approximately February 4) through Grain Rain (early May). It is a season of awakening — the earth thaws, sap rises, and the first green shoots emerge. In traditional practice, spring is associated with the liver and the wood element: the time for gentleness, stretching, and renewed growth. Foods shift toward leafy greens and sprouts. Movement emphasizes opening and lengthening. The energy is upward and outward.
